President Muhammadu Buhari has finally rejected the move to extend the tenure of the executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by one year.
He described the move to extend the tenure of the officials as unconstitutional as it goes against both the APC’s constitution and the country’s constitution.
The NEC meeting of the APC held on February 27 had voted to grant one year tenure extension to all the 30 state executives across the country to enable them to prosecute the 2019 elections.
However, President Buhari, who said that he took the decision after consulting legal experts including the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, said that it is in the electoral interest of the party to avoid anything that could infringe on the laws of the country.
