Angry APGA members pledge loyalty to party

Awka—ABOUT 35 members of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, who lost nominations at the primaries last year have pledged loyalty to the leadership of the party, saying they could not afford to abandon the political party they helped to build.

Many of the aggrieved aspirants had, shortly after the primaries, threatened to pull out of APGA following what they described as the shoddy way the primaries were conducted.

However, some of them yesterday changed their mind and decided to return to the party.
Their chairman, Mr. Nonso Okaka and secretary, Mr. Okey Akaneme, who led others on a courtesy call on the Anambra State chairman of APGA, Chief Norbert Obi, said they had been watching closely, happenings in the polity and had therefore decided to remain in APGA despite the outcome of the last primaries.

In a letter addressed to the state chairman, the former APGA aspirants said: “We have decided to pay this solidarity visit in appreciation of successes recorded in APGA in the state under your watch as the state party chairman. We have followed your experienced and matured leadership style which is worthy of emulation, as displayed in the recent ‘thank -you visit’ by His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano to all the 21 Local Government Areas, which had helped to reposition the party towards becoming a front line political party in Nigeria.”
